Leitrim Office Supplies is owned and managed by husband and wife team Michael and Anne Guckian. The couple founded the business in 1990 and over the past 20 years they have successfully served the needs of both businesses and educational institutions by providing an extensive choice of office stationary and school supplies combined with an exemplary level of customer service. To mark the 20 year celebration, the couple organised an art competition across primary schools in Leitrim, and surrounding counties in September. The competition ran for 8 weeks giving fifth and sixth class pupils the opportunity to combine their creative flair with self expression to create a poster centred on the theme ‘What my County means to me’. The competition proved extremely popular with over 30 schools submitting entries from eager students. The results are in and Leitrim Office Supplies is proud to announce the overall winners to include

Ms. Eimear McHugh, St. Joseph’s Primary School, Killenummery, Dromahair, Co. Leitrim

Ms. Ciara Duggan, Corrigeenroe Primary School, Corrigeenroe, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.

This competition was well received by all schools and it provided a winning formula for teachers, principals, pupils and Leitrim Office Supplies to combine creativity with self expression in line with the overall art curriculum. As Anne Guckian states “We wanted to mark our 20^th anniversary celebrations with a theme that fitted with our core business philosophy which is based on combining innovation and creativity with customer involvement in the provision of a superior level of customer service”. We thought of the concept of an art competition because it checked all those boxes. When we approached the schools with the idea back in September they were very enthusiastic” stated Anne

The assessment criteria was based on choosing two winning entries that could articulate the theme ‘What My County Means to Me’  .  In picking the winning entries , the head of the judging panel, Ms Kathryn Mc Sweeney stated “we reached a final decision  based on the articulation of the theme “What my county means to me” The winning entries included artistic creations that are colourful, original and imaginative.

On behalf of all the Leitrim Office Supplies staff and management “we would like to thank all of the pupils and students who submitted entries on this occasion. The standard was excellent and the enthusiasm of the pupils and schools was unbridled. We are sorry that not everyone can win the prize but there is no doubt that the positive energy created by the competition across all the participant county schools coupled with the high standard of entries received is proof that everyone should feel very proud of their submissions and in that regard everyone is a winner” states Anne

In order to present the winning prizes which consist of an art hamper of €100 for each of the students and a €200 Leitrim Office Supplies voucher for each of the schools, Leitrim Office Suppliesinvited with 2FM presenter Paddy Mckenna to make presentation of  the prizes in each of the schools  Friday  November 26^th.
